Welcome to FFP One
My name is Randall Helms, I'm the founder of FFP One, and I'm excited to welcome you; FFP One is now live and available to anyone who's interested.
You can try before you buy: there's a free ten day trial that gives you 500 credits to try out the system. If you like it (and I hope you do!), you can then go on to subscribe - I'm running a 50% off the first month special launch offer through the end of 2026. If you want an even better deal, the annual subscription gets you 12 months for the price of 10.
FFP One is a one man operation (me), the kind of thing that has only become possible in the last year or so with the revolution in agentic AI. I built the entire system from the ground up, completely by myself. For the last 15 years I have been working in the technology industry, building full-scale data systems for other people, and now I have taken those skills and applied them to building a professional-grade data layer that advanced AI systems can interact with, in order to provide a great tool to you, the professional investor. You can read a bit more about me in my first post, Why I'm building FFP One.
I'm extremely proud of what I've produced, and in this post I want to talk about the product itself, now that it's a real thing that is commercially available.
What is FFP One?
FFP One is a future finance platform (hence the name) that exists to solve a very specific problem: making financial research from company filings fast, easy, affordable, trustworthy and, even, fun. FFP One is designed to make it easy for you to understand how a company is performing, using their own words and their own numbers from their official filings.
Right now, if you want to do your own research on a company's filings, you can either do it manually, which is super time consuming, or you can ask the standard ChatGPT or Claude chat tools, which are not always trustworthy, or you can use one of the many existing tools on the market. However, they typically have at least some shortcomings, either in feature set (limited) or in price (some are extremely expensive). FFP One is custom built to provide a premium product offering at a very reasonable price point.
I've used my many years of experience in the data world to build the FFP One Data Layer, which pulls data from SEC filings as well as a variety of other sources and then performs a set of transformations to produce a well structured database that the AI tools can interact with. What makes FFP One special, in my opinion, is that I've taken the technological innovations that have happened in recent years in the data world and put them in a box for professional investors. FFP One is for investors who are money savvy but don't have the time, skills or inclination to build such a complex data layer on their own.
How does it work, and what can you do with it?
AI systems are only as good as the data they have to work with; the FFP One Data Layer is designed to provide exactly this kind of high-quality, trustworthy data set. It enables all kinds of use cases for AI, and to start with I have made three available:
- Research: This hands you the ability to build deep-dive research papers on your question of choice; imagine a junior analyst who can produce a professional-grade paper whenever you want, whether you're on a train or sitting in a coffee shop, with a QA pass and a full list of all sources used, and imagine that coming back in less than half an hour max (with most finishing in about 10 minutes)
- Chat: Chat is a normal chat experience, with the twist that it's all based on the data layer. It's a great way to informally ask questions about a company or a fund, compare companies, or think through a thesis.
- Memos: This is a super handy tool for summarizing information into a one-to-three-page memo, whether it's turning a sprawling chat thread into a single coherent document, taking a fifteen to twenty page research paper and summarizing it into a short note, or summarizing an individual company, fund or note. Imagine you have five minutes before a client call and you want a boiled down overview of MSFT - the memo will be ready to skim in 30 seconds.
The AI feature that I'm most excited about is Research; just being able to ask it a question and have it come back with an answer that either confirms the hypothesis or pushes back, and provide it in a readable, clear, easy to use format is amazing. I use it every day and I'm still blown away by it!
Obviously, you can do similar things off the cuff for free with the normal consumer versions of ChatGPT or Claude, but they are pulling stuff off the web or from system memory. Research hits the FFP One Data Layer, which has gone through an intense process of cleaning and quality checks, and then marries it to clearly signposted data from the web to produce a result that is both useful and trustworthy.
What is really exciting is that the architecture supports all kinds of new features; I'm already planning tools to build your own financial models and to build and monitor portfolios.
If you're interested, you can see some samples which give you some sense of what the product does.
Besides the AI tools, there are a number of other tools that help you to do your own research.
- Companies: For over 2,300 companies at launch we offer comprehensive coverage, with an overview, a filing report for each 10-K going back to 2020, financials, filing search to search within their filings, and My Work, a place to pull together all your AI work about that company
- Funds: We cover equity-focused mutual funds and ETFs, and our huge database of companies allows us to go beyond standard fund pricing mechanisms to look through to the underlying components: the holdings and what they mean and what their characteristics are. Imagine trying to manually assemble a perspective on a fund that holds thousands of stocks? Impossible! For FFP One it's just a database query
- Data Explorer: This lets you build your own datasets directly from the FFP One data layer. You can pick up to 10 companies and up to 50 metrics, and export the result as Excel or CSV
- Notes: Build your own research notes, combining chat answers, tables, text, filing searches, your own notes and more.
If you'd like to kick the tires, the free 10-day trial comes with 500 credits, and everything above is waiting for you on a company you know.
This exists to make your life easier
My goal is to make your life easier. Well, at least your investing life; I have no control over your personal life! FFP One makes it easier for you to do your own financial research; the system never tells you whether or not to purchase or sell an equity, because that's your job. You're the professional. I just want to help you with gathering the information you need to make that decision.
I'm well aware that many tools out there are doing some version of this, but I believe strongly that I've built something here with a combination of price, quality, trustworthiness and effectiveness that makes it an attractive proposition.
My fixed costs are very low, and I don't have any investors looking over my shoulder. I just need to make a living for my family! That lets me offer this at what is, I think, a very attractive rate compared with some of the companies on the market. Plans start at $149 a month; the pricing page has the rest.
The pricing model is easy to understand: it's a subscription service that uses a credit system, with one account per firm and unlimited seats. Each firm gets a pile of credits for everyone to use. There are no per-seat costs: you can invite as many people from your firm as you like, and everyone uses the same bucket of credits. Credits pay for the AI features (Research, Chat and Memos), and the other tools have unlimited usage.
As I'm a solo founder, and completely bootstrapped, what I can promise all customers is a laser-like focus on your needs. I've built this product, I believe very strongly in it, and I'm very proud of it. It exists out of my own self-belief and, frankly, out of my own pocket. There are no venture capitalists pushing me to do X, Y or Z. There's no bureaucracy to slowly smother your requests. Just me. If you want a feature, you can just shoot me an email, and I'll figure out how to make it a reality.
What's next
Getting to this stage was quite a journey, and now I'm embarking on the next step, which is trying to make this a commercial success. Since the product is by no means finished, I have lots of exciting things coming up in Q4 2026 and beyond.
In the short term, I'm going to add support for 10-Qs, the quarterly reports. Right now we only have annual reports (10-K / 20-F) and material events (8-K). Quarterlies are the biggest hole and should arrive in the next couple weeks. I'm also hoping to soon add support for IPO forms and earnings calls, and keep improving the product surfaces in areas like funds and companies as well as the existing AI tools, and make it easier to keep track of individual companies and funds.
Further out, as mentioned before, I'm already planning to add new AI features for financial modeling and portfolios, and I also want to add support for multiple currencies, so that I can expand coverage beyond the US. I'll start with the other major English-speaking nations first: the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. After that I guess the major European markets, and then just keep going. Imagine you're in your wealth management office in Dallas and you can ask questions to an AI about a Brazilian stock that you're interested in, and get fast and reliable answers back in English?
This is the start of what I hope is a long road. I'm very excited by it, and I hope you'll join me on it.
